Ryan Reynolds Made a Big Business Announcement

The average person changes their career multiple times throughout their lifetime, so it’s not really a surprise to see actors wanting to branch out and switch it up every once in a while. One such actor is Ryan Reynolds, who for his next big professional move took a page straight out of George Clooney’s entrepreneurial handbook. As of Feb. 21, Reynolds is the proud owner of a gin company.

Reynolds announced the big move on Instagram this week with a photo of himself posing with a few cases and a bottle of Aviation gin.

“I own nothing in this photo. Except that gin company,” he wrote in the caption, tagging Aviation’s Instagram page as well.

All things considered, it’s probably a pretty safe career move to go from acting right into the alcohol business. If there’s any product that will stay successful and keep selling no matter what the economy looks like, it’s booze (remember the Prohibition?). And plus, having a celebrity at the helm will probably only get more people to try Aviation Gin, boosting sales in the process. So yeah, Reynolds’ foray into the world of alcohol can really only mean good things for everyone involved.

Forbes reached out to Reynolds’ rep for information about how much stake in the company he actually purchased, but the rep declined to give a percentage, only saying that Reynolds is now a “significant owner.”

“About a year ago, I tried Aviation for the first time. Since that day, I’ve spent my time finding some way to infiltrate the company,” Reynolds told Forbes. “I did this for one simple reason: It’s the best damn gin on the planet.”

That’s a pretty big endorsement and might even be reason enough to start trying to find a bottle of this stuff now. Aviation is based in Portland, Oregon, so if you live near there, you probably have a good shot of tracking some down.
